My diffuser has been used for a while, and the water tank looks dirty, so it’s time to clean it. To ensure that clean water runs in a clean container, the inside of the water tank should be cleaned at least every 2-3 days of use. Now let’s start the cleaning work now.
1. Materials needed
1.1. Purified water or distilled water.
1.2. White vinegar
1.3. Cotton swabs or soft cloth
1.4. Small brush (such as a toothbrush)
1.5. Clean towel or paper towel
2. Cleaning steps
Please make sure that water does not enter the electronic components of the machine during the entire cleaning process. To avoid damage.
2.1 Power-off sequence and disassembly of the diffuser
Be sure to cut off the power supply to the socket first, then unplug the power adapter from the socket, and then unplug the plug at the connection of the machine (do not reverse it to risk electric shock).
Remove the removable parts such as the water tank cover and outer cover. Different diffusers have different internal structures. Please check the product structure and cleaning sections of the manual before cleaning.
2.2 Pour out excess water and rinse the water tank
When removing the residual water in the water tank, be sure to drain from the marked direction on the drain side. If you pour water from the non-drain side, water will enter the machine and cause circuit failure, resulting in machine operation failure or direct damage.
2.3 rinse the water tank
Rinse the water tank with pure water or distilled water to remove the essential oil residue and other debris in the water tank. Please be careful not to splash water into the electronic materials of the machine when rinsing.
If the essential oil in the water tank is difficult to clean, you can first wipe off the essential oil residue with soft paper, then mix other solvents (such as vinegar) and water in a 1:1 ratio, pour it into the water tank and let it stand for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse it with clean water.
2.4 Clean the atomizer
Dip a small amount of water with a cotton swab, gently and carefully wipe the surface of the atomizer to remove dirt.
Do not touch it directly with your hands, or press the ultrasonic vibration plate at the bottom of the water tank hard to prevent damage to the atomizer. After cleaning with a cotton swab, pour clean water into it again to rinse, and then use a clean towel or paper towel or other soft objects to thoroughly wipe the atomizer.
2.5 Clean the shell, bottom and other parts
Wet the rag or paper with clean water, and wring it out to the point where it does not drip, scrub the water stains and handprints on the surface of the aromatherapy machine, and remove the dust and oil on the surface. For small spaces in corners, you can use a cotton swab or a small brush to gently scrub.
Clean the paper scraps, hair and other dirt adsorbed on the air inlet and outlet at the bottom of the aromatherapy machine.
2.6 Drying
After cleaning, dry all parts with a clean towel and place them in a ventilated place to dry, or use a hair dryer, handheld fan, etc. to assist in quick drying.
2.7 Test the diffuser
After all cleaning is completed, pour in an appropriate amount of pure water, plug in the power supply, let the machine run for a while, and then pour it out. Be careful to prevent water overflow or exceed the upper limit of the water tank when adding water. Do not supply water to the machine body while the machine is running, otherwise it will cause high-temperature water and spray to be sprayed out. Then the cleaning is completely completed, and then you can turn on the machine according to the normal operating steps.
3. Maintenance and precautions
During the cleaning process and use, there are the following points that everyone is more concerned about.
3.1 What water to use
It is best to use pure water or distilled water when using the aromatherapy machine.
Too hard water will produce scale, and the micro-substances in the water will react with the essential oils, which is not conducive to the long-term use of the machine.
3.2 What cleaning liquid to use
When using detergents for cleaning, please make sure to use safe and mild detergents.
If there are chlorine-containing, acidic, and enzyme-containing detergents remaining inside, toxic gases will be produced, causing dangers. It is also not recommended to use volatile oils, thinners, alcohol and other medicines.
Some corrosive liquids may damage the machine and make the scales and other markings disappear if used for a long time.
3.3 How much essential oil to use
Everyone likes different aroma concentrations, and the types and concentrations of essential oils are also very different. The specific amount of use should be adjusted accordingly according to your needs.
Generally speaking, when using an aromatherapy machine, we should add an appropriate amount of essential oil according to the capacity of the aromatherapy machine’s water tank. For example, 2 to 3 drops of essential oil can be added to about 100 ml of water.
For aromatherapy machines that add water and then essential oil, it is forbidden to use a large amount of essential oil for atomization without adding water.
The added essential oil should have good fluidity and solubility. Very thick and heavy essential oil will adhere to the ultrasonic vibration plate, block the atomization plate and cause malfunction or defect.
3.4 Where it cannot be used
Do not use the aromatherapy machine in the following places. To avoid malfunctions, malfunctions and damage to the surrounding environment and items. The spray nozzle is facing furniture, clothing, curtains, walls, books and other paper, ceilings, etc.
Directly exposed to sunlight, extremely high temperatures such as heating and near fire sources, air outlets such as air conditioners
On carpets or bedding, unstable places such as tilted places, or high places
Near electrical appliances or precision instruments
4. Summary
Regular cleaning of the aromatherapy machine is good for our health, and it is also good for discovering and preventing potential faults and extending the service life of the machine.
